DEAR NORRSKEN FRIEND

Norrsken is proud to invite you to Norrsken Impact Talks.

We are putting ideas, perspectives, and people on stage to provoke and inspire new thinking and new action. We believe that open and authentic conversations where the narrative is not settled in advance lead to friction that sparks new ideas and enhances collective intelligence.

The talks will be moderated by Mimi Billing from Sifted.

COULD THIS BE A POTENTIAL MIRACLE TREATMENT FOR ONE OF THE BIGGEST PROBLEMS OF OUR TIME?

WHO estimates that depression is the leading cause of disease burden on society by 2030. Already today, more than 1 billion people suffer from migraines. But since the development of SSRIs (antidepressants), barely any new drugs have been introduced. Research is now showing that psychedelics have the potential to not just treat, but to cure mental diseases. This could completely transform psychiatry and reduce human suffering across the globe.

Speaker
David Nutt - Chair in Neuropsychopharmacology at Imperial College London, President of the European Brain Council

ARE WE WASTING BILLIONS ON THE WRONG CLIMATE POLICIES?

Few statisticians inspire more passion and controversy than Bjørn Lomborg. Time Magazine ranks him as one of the 100 most influential people of our time, while Rajendra Pachauri of the IPCC compares him to Adolf Hitler. Bjørn himself states that “if we care about the environment and about leaving this planet and its inhabitants with the best possible future, we actually have only one option: we all need to start seriously focusing, right now, on the most effective ways to fix global warming.”

Johan Kuylenstierna is one of the most influential minds shaping Swedish and global climate policy, most recently as chair of the Swedish Climate Policy Council and previously as CEO of the Stockholm Environment Institute.

Together they will cover the most effective ways of dealing with the climate crisis.

SPEAKERS
Johan Kuylenstierna, Chair Swedish Climate Policy Council, Professor Stockholm University
Bjørn Lomborg - Founder of Copenhagen Consensus Center

IT'S NOT THE WORLD THAT NEEDS TO CHANGE, IT'S HUMAN BEHAVIOR

In the age of the Anthropocene, all our global issues are symptoms. The cause? Human decision-making. So how do we shift decision-making at scale from short-term personal gain to a long-term and sustainable way relating to the rest of the world? Effective and evidence-based tools exist for 95% of mental health and growth needs, but these effective tools are offline and therefore only reaching a select few. Until now. Using an innovative combination of science-backed tools and support groups, 29k has achieved a solution that scales real change.
